Fourie lauds Steyn's character─── MORGAN PIEK 15:35 Mon, 29 Nov 2021
The Toyota Cheetahs coach, Hawies Fourie, has lauded the influence of the Springbok, Frans Steyn, on the team.
The two-time World Cup winner is back at the Cheetahs following a lengthy spell with the Springboks.
The seasoned campaigner didn’t play for the Cheetahs on Friday in the Toyota Challenge game against Baia Mare, but he volunteered to do duty as the ball boy.
Fourie said that this speaks volumes of his character.
“It's always great seeing a guy like that coming back from the British & Irish Lions series and the UK Tour and he wanted to be next to the field.
“That really says a lot about who Frans Steyn really is.
“He wasn't on the mic but I am sure that he would have given his input.
“He is experienced enough to see what is going on and what we need to do.
“I think that he would have given some advice to the guys.”
The Cheetahs have the week off before a final two-week push before the Christmas break.
Steyn is expected to be back in the Cheetahs set up for the Currie Cup after missing most of the year due to international duty with the Springboks.
