Cape Town. - Reports in this morning's newspapers suggest that Percy Montgomery - the most capped Springbok of all time and record points scorer - has been arrested over the weekend in Durban on charges of assaulting his wife.
According to the Cape Times, Montgomery appeared in court on Monday and charged with the intent to cause grievious bodily harm to his wife Tasmin at an incident in Umhlanga on Sunday.
Montgomery's R1500 bail release has him being released on condition that he does not threaten his wife or her parents.
The details on the case are not yet clear, with police spokesperson Vincent Nunge confirming that the case was "domestic violence related". - Cape Times
