Good times were run on Saturday morning (8/2) during the 2025 Klopper Marathon, which has long been regarded as Bloemfontein’s most iconic race.
The winning time in the men's 42.2km marathon was 2:26:46 by Arthur Jantjies of the KGA Club in Kimberley. Jantjies won the marathon by close to two minutes, with the individual runner from Lesotho, Tshiliso Matseke, clocking an equally impressive time of 2:28:41 for second place. Remaketse Lekaka, who represents the Bloemfontein Striders Club, rounded off the podium at exactly 2:33:00.

The women's 42.2km marathon was won by Inacia Maguire of the Running Edge, who stopped the clock in 3:25:00. She beat Zine du Plessis of Bloemfontein Striders, who crossed the finish line three minutes off the pace but still ran a more than respectable time of 3:28:00. Mardre van der Kolf, who also runs for the Bloemfontein Striders Club, took third overall in 3:43:00.
Siyabona Derison of the Phantane Club won the men's 21.1km half marathon in a time of 1:06:45, for a very comfortable victory. He beat Mxenecela Miya by more than two minutes, with the latter taking silver in 1:09:00, while Teboho Sello claimed the bottom step of the podium in 1:11:00.
Likeleli Majara of Sibanya Steel won the women’s half marathon by completing the 21.1km course in 1:21:00. The legendary Nedbank runner, Anna Moeketsi, claimed third in a time of 1:32:42.
The 10km road race is always a blistering affair, and on Saturday there was no exception. The top three runners in the men’s race all finished within one minute of each other. Senzo Fambatha of Hillbusters took the men's race in 32:43, while Omphile Letshabo, representing HTS Louis Botha, was hot on his heels (time undisclosed), and Thabang Mathosa of Nedbank by Grace stopped the clock in 33:31.
Kristi Bell of UFS Kovies claimed the women's 10km road race in 39:40 for a very comfortable win of over three minutes. Taniti McMaster of Vryburg came in second in 42:45, while Dineo of Dithakano finished in third in a time of 43:37.
