Four vehicles torched on Gauteng's golden highway | News Article

Gauteng Police are keeping a close eye on the roads after four vehicles were torched by protesters along the R553.

This affected traffic on the N1 near Grasmere Toll Plaza which connects Johannesburg and Bloemfontein. Community members were allegedly protesting the displacement of informal settlers between Orange Farm and Lenasia South. This led to three trucks and a light delivery vehicle being set alight last night while roads were barricaded. According to police’s Khalipha Mvula, no-one has yet been arrested.
