Mlamleli has no word from Bfn Celtic owners on status of club sale | News Article

Mayor of the Mangaung Metropolitan Municipality, Olly Mlamleli, revealed that she has received no communication, neither from the Bloemfontein Celtic club owner Max Tshabalala nor from any other stakeholders regarding the club’s sale.

Mlamleli said that she was also receiving her information from media reports on the ongoing sale of the team and was confused about what is happening with regards to the matter. Mlamleli had previously expressed that it is the City’s wish to keep the club in the province as it has a huge supporter base and has favourable economic spin-offs for the province. Mlamleli was speaking at a mayoral briefing session held in Bloemfontein on Tuesday morning.

“I am going to call them to tell me exactly word by word, line by line, what is the problem. Because every day, we also hear that today ‘it’s sold’ and ‘today, it’s been bought by who and who’. So I’m not going to town now in seeking a response for this question, they must come to me and this team, to explain where they are,” Mlamleli said.

Meanwhile, owner of the club, Max Tshabalala, opted to not speak to the media on the sale of the team. His brother and lawyer, Mandla Tshabalala, said they are still waiting for offers on the team. Mandla said several business people have come forward and expressed interest in the club, however, no concrete agreements are yet in place. OFM News previously reported that a businessman in Bloemfontein, who requested not to be named, was interested in buying the soccer club.

However, nothing has come from that as the anonymous buyer said he still awaits a response from Tshabalala Attorneys. The anonymous potential buyer joins a few local business owners, including Senki Leshabane and Ben Moseme, who were reported in recent weeks to have shown interest in the club. Tshabalala is said to have met with Leshabane and Mosola earlier on this month in a bid to resuscitate the deal that fell through.
