Close to 300 suspects arrested in NW─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 09:08 Sat, 01 Sep 2018
North West Provincial Commissioner, Baile Motswenyane, has commended the police in the province for the arrest of 297 suspects earlier this week.
The arrests were made during the police raid on Wednesday and Thursday respectively.
While the arrests were made at all seven policing clusters in the province, police spokesperson, Adéle Myburgh, says most of the arrests were effected in the Klerksdorp Cluster.
These 297 suspects face various charges including assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm, assault common, common robbery, rape, residential and business burglary, malicious damage to property, as well as contravention of protection orders.
Myburgh says a number of these suspects are still expected to make court appearances on Monday.
She adds that the provincial commissioner has further condemned acts of crime and sent a stern warning to offenders.
