North West Transport department focuses on road safety─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 12:32 Mon, 26 Mar 2018
The Department of Community Safety and Transport in North West is bringing road safety awareness to rural communities ahead of Easter Weekend.
MEC Mpho Motlhabane is participating in the Greater Taung Local Municipality's annual Reconciliation, Healing and Renewal programme at the Kgomotso and Kameelpits villages. Motlhabane, who also hails from the area, will be leading the programme. He says the wreath laying and cleansing ceremonies are important, especially to focus on the accident-prone D201 as it has already claimed too many lives in the past.
He says religious leaders will pray at the identified high accident zones as part of the cleansing ceremony. The programme also includes a formal reconciliation, healing, and renewal service at the Mercy Tabernacle Church. The formal prayer service also focuses on the high crime rate in Ward 20 and surrounding villages which are experiencing an escalation of very serious criminal activities.
The service will be led by religious leaders from different local congregations.
