Tswaing municipality to engage disgruntled workers─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 12:21 Tue, 05 Dec 2017
The South African Municipal Workers Union (Samwu) says they are hopeful issues faced by employees at Tswaing Municipality in the North West will be resolved today.
This, after chaos erupted in the recent council meeting where workers barged in and demanded the Municipal Manager and Speaker to address them on issues relating to the non-payment of third parties and late salary payment. The Union’s Provincial Secretary, Vincent Diphoko, says the municipality has failed to engage with them on several occasions, but are today expected to at least come to the table as promised by the Mayor.
Diphoko says the lack of resources and lack of protective clothing for the past three years continues to hinder workers from doing their work properly, but the municipality seems not to be bothered.
Despite several attempts, OFM News has been awaiting a response from the municipality since last week.
