Heavy rainfall expected over parts of Central South Africa on Wednesday.

The South African Weather Service says the rainfall is due to “a cold front that moved over the country this morning”. The “severe” thundershowers are expected over parts of the North West and Free State today. These rainfall patterns will thereafter spread through to the rest of the North West, Free State, Mpumalanga, Limpopo and Gauteng by Thursday.

The rainfall will bring much needed relief to farming communities in the country, particularly in the North West. Deon Oosthuizen, a farmer residing near Ventersdorp in the North West, says over the past two to three days they had 32 millimeters of rain and the expected rainfall is welcomed. “I am totally dependent on good rainfall, so I am going to be grateful for the rain,” says Oosthuizen.
