Harmony Gold General Manager shot dead at Welkom─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 08:09 Fri, 29 Sep 2017
Harmony Gold Mining Limited has confirmed the General Manager of its Tshepong Operations at Welkom in the Free State was shot dead yesterday afternoon.
Investor Relations Manager, Lauren Fourie, says the company is still in shock and dismay following the incident in which Simphiwe Kubheka was shot in his car. She says Kubheka was on his way home. According to her, police and the mine's private security company have launched an investigation. Police spokesperson, Motansi Makhele, says a case of murder is being investigated by police in Welkom.
Makhele says Kubheka was driving from his workplace yesterday just after 18:00 when he was apparently shot. Police are still investigating how many shooters and people are involved.
