The ANC in the Free State says there is a chance that the Provincial Congress might still continue this month.
This, after the party’s Secretary General, Gwede Mantashe, has banned regional and provincial congresses after September 30th in an effort to ensure that the party’s National Elective Conference goes ahead in December.
ANC provincial spokesperson, Thabo Meeko, told OFM News that the letter sent out to provincial and league secretaries earlier this month does not prohibit any ANC structure from convening their conference, but will rather convene any conferences after the National Conference, should they not meet the September deadline.
Meeko says the ANC in the Free State is fully prepared to hold a conference, however, await national leaders to sign it off. He could, however, not confirm the date.
