Investigations under way at Boshof High School─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 10:37 Sat, 02 Sep 2017
Bloemfontein - The Free State Department of Education says investigations into Boshof High School are under way.
This, after the school allegedly kicked out learners from the hostel following an altercation among a group of learners, earlier this week.
The department’s spokesperson, Howard Ndaba, says although there is a video currently circulating on social media showing learners standing stranded outside the school’s premises with their luggage, he can confirm that the situation has been brought under control and the learners are safely back at the hostel.
Ndaba says at this stage no learner is locked out and the focus is on preliminary examinations, whilst investigations continues.
“We are looking into what could have been the problem, we are looking at some of the CCTV footage with the view of what could have led to the altercation and what’s the way forward, but as far as we are concerned, for now, the problem is resolved.”
The EFF in the province, however, says they are appalled by the department’s delay in dealing with matters that calls for urgent intervention.
The party’s Provincial Chairperson, Kgotso Morapela, says learners were left stranded with parents having no choice but to organise temporary accommodation for their children. He says although the learners have returned to the hostel after the department was alerted, more still needs to be done.
