Wepener Town Hall arson case postponed─── KATLEHO MORAPELA 15:56 Mon, 28 Aug 2017
A 26-year-old man allegedly involved in the torching of Wepener Town Hall is due to appear before the Wepener Magistrate’s Court tomorrow.
This, after the case was postponed today pending a psychiatric report. Police spokesperson, Yanga Ngcukana, says Justice Moshao was arrested for the alleged arson after the police received information that he has been staying on the premises for a couple of months and might have started the blaze. Ngcukana says the suspect faces charges of arson and investigations into the matter continues.
“[With regard to] the Wepener arson case where the Town Hall has been torched about two weeks ago, the suspect has appeared before the Wepener Magistrate’s Court today, but the case was postponed to tomorrow. Basically, they’re waiting for the report from the institution where the suspect was referred to,” says Ngcukana.
