Lindiwe Sisulu to attend NW economic empowerment summit─── 12:17 Wed, 23 Aug 2017
Mahikeng - Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Minister of Small Businesses, Lindiwe Sisulu, are among the guest speakers addressing female business owners at the Women Economic Empowerment Summit hosted by the North West government in Mahikeng today.
According to MEC for North West Department of Rural, Environment and Agricultural Development, Manketsi Tlhape, the departments responsible for economic transformation, known as the economic cluster in the province, have an array of programmes that female business owners from different formations and sectors need to become aware of.
These programmes are imperative to economic transformation and emancipation in the province, she says.
Tlhape says her department believes that at least 4% of these programmes should be made available to emerging female business owners.
"Programmes offered by the Department of Rural, Environment and Agricultural development in the province include aqua culture, a programme where there aren’t a lot of women participating in that programme; biodiversity economy, a wildlife transformation programme; there is the Nguni cattle scheme; livestock improvement programmes; and a horticulture programme, among others," Tlhape says.
