Bloemfontein - The Mangaung Metro Municipality calls on the Free State provincial Department of Police, Roads and Transport to fast-track investigations into the horrific bus crash on the N8 between Bloemfontein and Botshabelo.

The accident claimed eight lives and left 51 people injured earlier this week.

The municipality’s Executive Mayor, Olly Mlamleli, says the number of road fatalities in the country is still extremely shocking and urgently needs to be attended to.

She urges road users countrywide to obey the rules of the road and be cautious.

Mlamleli says the municipality together with the office of the premier will soon be making their way to Botshabelo to visit the family of the deceased and to assist where possible.

"Those who have passed on, may their souls rest in peace, and may those who were injured experience a speedy recovery. Let us remember as drivers, we must drive in such a way that we arrive alive and respect the road traffic signs," Mlamleli added.
