Bloemfontein - The Free State Department of Health has released the names of six of the people who died in Monday’s horrific bus crash on the N8 outside Bloemfontein.
The department’s spokesperson, Mondli Mvambi, says the families of Nophatheka Sinah Motaung (50), Mpolai Paulina Ralekholela (56), Hlekiwe Julieana Msuthu (48), and Seanokeng Rosa Lefu (61) have already been informed about their passing. He says this is also the case with Khahane Shaduck(41) and Maletesane Masunyane (57) who passed on later the same day at the Pelonomi Hospital. They are both from Botshabelo and a post-mortem will be conducted on Thursday, according to Mvambi. He says there are two female bodies that still need to be identified by families…
“It is an appeal we want to make to the community. Please come to the Government Mortuary in Bloemfontein to help us identify your loved ones,” says Mvambi.
He says eight patients are still receiving care at the Pelonomi Hospital.
Four of these patients have been admitted to the Trauma Unit, one to the Orthopaedic Unit and one is receiving treatment in the High Care Unit. He says all these patients are currently in a critical but stable condition.
Mvambi again applauded the hard work done by the respective medical teams since the accident.
