Issues relating to youth unemployment, lack of funding for entrepreneurs, and radical economic transformation are among some of the issues that will be under the spotlight during the Free State MEC’s visit to the Lejweleputswa District tomorrow.
The Department of Economic, Small Business Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs spokesperson, Lebogang Maloale, says the MEC, Benny Malakoane, is set to engage various stakeholders on economic challenges currently faced in the province. This, however, comes months after Statistics South Africa revealed that the province recorded the highest unemployment rate in the country for the first quarter of 2016.
He says community members will also be engaged in possible measures to participate in the economy. Maloale adds that the visit forms part of the MEC’s roadshow in an effort to uplift the economy in the province and to encourage citizens to part take in the department’s projects.
Maloale says the department also calls on the private sector, municipalities, and financial institutions to join hands in the roadshow.
