Lichtenburg - It is calm in Itsoseng at Lichtenburg after violent protests related to service delivery issues earlier this week.
Ditsobotla Local Municipality spokesperson, Pius Batsile, says the situation is calm and police have a presence in the areas where protests took place.
Batsile says the town council met on Saturday to talk about the issues that led to the protests. He says one of the key problems is water supply.
A technical team of officials from the municipality, the province and Sebideng Water was appointed in November last year to look at resolving these problems.
The council has in the meantime condemned the criminal acts during the violent protests, which resulted in the destruction of properties and the looting of businesses.
The municipality has also appointed an ad hoc committee of seven councillors to handle the Itsoseng protests and to report back to the council.
