De Aar communities take hands against crime─── MARK STEENBOK 18:10 Tue, 08 Nov 2016
De Aar - The community of De Aar is fed up with crime. This is according to the organiser of a group called The Rising Up of De Aar.
Hamilton Jansen says the group was formed in light of the murders of three members of a well-known family over the weekend.
Members of the group gathered at the local Magistrate's Court today to voice their anger where an 18-year-old suspect appeared in connection with the murder of Glenwill Makaleni, his wife Gladys and their 10-year-old son, Gladwill. Jansen says the community have suffered at the hands of criminals for way too long.
“We went to the courts to tell them that we’ve had enough. For too long we have been quiet. We need to stand up, we need to rise up, we need to empower the community, and make our voices heard. Our town is really under siege. We need to do something immediately, we need to do something now,” says Jansen.
Dumisa Makadula was remanded in custody and will appear in court again on November 28 for formal bail application.
