North West MEC, cyclist die in car crash─── MOEKETSI MOGOTSI 17:02 Thu, 07 Jul 2016

Vryburg - The North West Social Development MEC, Kgakgamatso Nkewu, has died after being involved in a car crash on the N18, just 5km outside Vryburg.
The spokesperson of the premier’s office, Brian Setswambung, confirmed that the accident happened this afternoon. Setswambung says the MEC was travelling from Mahikeng to Taung.
“I can sadly confirm that a car accident has claimed the life of MEC Kgakgamatso Nkweu, who was the MEC for Social Development. The accident involved the MEC and a cyclist who also lost his life. Two VIP protectors were also involved in the accident. They’re currently hospitalised and they are in a critical state,” he said.
Setswambung says the vehicle caught fire after it rolled. Nkewu was thrown out of the car and declared dead on the scene.
The deceased was certified dead on the scene while the two VIP protectors were taken to a hospital. Both are in critical condition.
“Yesterday we were with her at an annual media networking session in Hartbeespoort where she gave a presentation.”
