Manyoni reacts to rumours about his future─── 15:26 Tue, 21 Jun 2016
Bloemfontein - Mangaung Metro Executive Mayor, Thabo Manyoni, says he is not sure where the ANC is going to take him next.
This follows after the party revealed Olly Mlamleli, current Free State MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, as its mayoral candidate for the metro. In an exclusive interview with OFM News this afternoon, Manyoni said he is not sure what his political future holds, but he did not deny rumours that he might just be swapped with Mlamleli. People are speculating that his work as mayor and his position as national chairperson of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA) makes him best suited for the position of Cogta MEC - to help municipalities with dire financial situations. But Manyoni says nothing official has been announced yet.
"I have not been told officially by the ruling party where exactly they are going to deploy me, but if they ultimately deploy me in that type of a position, I will again try my best to help those struggling municipalities, but for now I am not sure, so I cannot really confirm."
