No arrests after Twin City robbery in Bloemfontein─── CHRISTAL-LIZE MULLER 07:51 Mon, 01 Jun 2015
Bloemfontein - No arrests have been made yet, after a group of between six to 11 armed men, robbed a chain store in the Twin City Mall in Heidedal over the weekend.
Police spokesperson, Harry Nagel, says the men wearing blue overalls and balaclavas entered the store on Friday evening, demanding money. According to Nagel an undisclosed amount of money and expensive liquor were taken.
On their way out members of the group fired shots at a police vehicle which responded to the robbery. Nagel says a constable from the Heidedal police station was wounded in the hand. The officer is expected to be released from hospital soon.
Members of the group also hijacked a Toyota RunX with a mother and her daughter inside.
The child was dropped at the mall's entrance while the robbers later dropped the injured mother at Pelonomi hospital.
The hijacked vehicle was later found abandoned in Batho.
Nagel says a case of business robbery, hijacking and attempted murder is investigated.
