Hartbeespoort - The NSPCA had removed three malnourished pigs from a state owned farm in North West yesterday.
The Matlosana municipality, which is currently under financial administration, manages a farming project as part of their local development initiative.
Two other pigs at the farm Moria near Hartbeespoort had already died from suspected malnourishment.
Tshepo Sebako from the SPCA's farm animal unit says charges have not been laid yet.
This follows shortly after police and the SPCA recently removed 58 dead pigs from former North West Premier and current chair of the National Council of Provinces, Thandi Modise’s farm Modderfontein, near Potchefstroom.
The remaining 85 pigs, which had allegedly been without food or water for at least a week, had begun cannibalising the dead animals.
Charges of animal cruelty have been laid against Modise.
