Brits - Madibeng's mayor Poppy Mangongwa and two other officials resigned on Tuesday, the municipality said.
The other officials were chief whip Solly Malete and speaker Buti Makhongela, said spokeswoman Lebogang Tsogang.
"There was no reason given for their resignation," she said.
The new mayor was Matshidiso Mangoathe, the new chief whip was Simon Klass, and the new speaker was Douglas Maimane.
Three people died in violent protests in Mothutlung, near Brits, last week, following a water shortage. A fourth person died in hospital after being shot in the head, allegedly by the police.
By Sunday, water had been restored to most parts of Mothutlung, said Lesiba Kgwele, spokesman for North West premier Thandi Modise. Residents there were without water for about two weeks.
However, Agang SA co-ordinator Victor Molefe said on Sunday that the village of Jericho, near Mothutlung, had been without water since last year.
Molefe said residents met Modise in June, but that there was still no water in Jericho.
Residents of Jericho and other villages in the area, which were also without water, were expected to join Mothutlung residents on Wednesday to hand over a memorandum at the municipal offices.
