In January a couple of Central South Africa's Coolest Schools took on the Good Morning Breakfast Cool Schools Money for Nothing Quiz. BUT, what makes them cool? The Good Morning Breakfast investigates.
Voluit Primere Skool - Virginia
Voluit is a relatively new school established in 2018 by combining two previously, rival schools. Together they form a proudly Afrikaans school serving a community with diverse cultures. Creating a new school comes with many challenges but also created the opportunity for a new school song, new customs and brand-new traditions.
Voluit Principal Mr JC Brummer, who will be retiring this year looks forward to seeing what the future holds.
Tjokkie Primere School Bloemfontein
According to Principal Mr Neels Gunter, Tjokkies is known as the "omgee skool", this year they celebrate the schools 55th Birthday and by looking back and celebrating this milestone they also look forward to growth and all the exciting new possibilities the future brings.
This school has a rater cool motto - "Tjokkies rus leerders op ‘n kaalvoetmanier toe om die skoene van die toekoms gemaklik vol te staan"
President Brand Primere School Bloemfontein
Principal Louis Smith says the schools X Factor is that as they are a small school it allows for a unique bond between students, teachers and each child's family, at PBS you are not just a number.
What makes PBS fun? Well, they start each day with a joke, students are encouraged to take to the stage at morning assembly and tell their own favourite joke. Laughter makes the students, teachers and staff approach the day with a positive attitude.
Laerskool Risiville - Vereeniging
What makes Laerskool Risiville different? Vice Principal Anton Van Wyk says they've introduced a few different types of sport to their curriculum amongst those fishing, horseback riding and skyfskiet. This gives students the opportunity to take part in less traditional activities to make for a more well-rounded foundation.
Metis Primary School - Ladybrand
Metis Primary school has two Principals, Caitlin Gower and Michelle Joubert who share a beautiful passion for this special school. Established in 2022 this school has shown exponential growth in a very short time; they started with 11 students and grew to 100 in the first two years.
