A Western Cape judge will on Monday say whether triple murderer Henri van Breda can appeal his conviction and sentence.
In June, Judge Siraj Desai handed Van Breda three life sentences for the murder of his parents and older brother.
He gave him an extra 15 years for the attempted murder of his sister.
The 23-year-old killed his family members at an estate in Stellenbosch.
He blamed an axe-wielding intruder for the crime.
