Potch golfer shoots 16-under-par─── MORGAN PIEK 14:00 Mon, 05 Jul 2021
The 20-year-old golfer, Christiaan Burke, carded a dream round on Saturday by shooting 16-under-par 56 at the Potchefstroom Golf Club in a medal round.
The Potchefstroom local sunk four birdies and Potchefstroom three eagles on the front nine for 10-under par 26.
On the back nine het added a further four birdies and an eagle to close with 30 for 56.
Burke told OFM Sport that it was a truly special round.
“It was awesome and probably one of the best things that I've ever done. It was a great achievement for me and it was a very special round. Then to do it with my brother and my best friend made it even more special.
“It was one of those rounds where everything just went right. I don't know how to describe it because it still hasn't sunk in. It feels like a dream and to shoot 16-under is something that every golfer dreams about.
“I am very proud and I have worked hard the last couple of years with Grant Veenstra.
“I think this will be with me for my whole life. So, it was a very special day for me and I am actually still quite speechless.”
