Snyman leads the batting in the One-Day Cup─── MORGAN PIEK 07:57 Tue, 04 Mar 2025

The explosive Knights opening batter, Jacques Snyman, has moved to the top of the run-scorers list following the weekend’s CSA One-Day Cup action.
The former Proteas star smashed a massive 160 runs off 118 balls in the Knights’ 74-run victory in Johannesburg against the Lions, according to the DLS method. This knock has taken Snyman’s tournament tally to 290 runs in five innings, at an average of 58.
So far, the big-hitting right-hander has cleared the ropes 12 times and struck 22 fours in the competition. His innings of 160 at the Wanderers is the highest individual score in the tournament so far this season.
Meanwhile, Dian Forrester has dropped from first to third on the run-scoring charts, but he still boasts an impressive average of 94. Forrester has scored two unbeaten centuries in the competition and shares third place with Snyman for the most sixes (12), while he has also struck 17 fours.

Jon-Jon Smuts of the Dolphins has the second-most runs to date, with 285, and leads the tournament in fours, having struck 31. Meanwhile, teen sensation Lhuan-Dré Pretorius of the Titans, who is knocking hard on the Proteas’ door, sits fourth on the list with 279 runs.
However, the young opener has smashed the most sixes in the competition, with 30. Like Forrester, he has also registered two centuries.
Snyman told OFM Sport he is feeling confident with the bat at the moment, but credits his teammates – especially Dominic Hendricks – for making things easier at the crease. “Yeah, it was really nice to get some runs under the belt. I’ve been feeling good over the last couple of games.”
“It was just great to contribute and go big. That was a massive win for us against a very strong side. Now, we just need to carry this momentum into the last two games and hopefully secure a playoff spot – or even make it to the final. That’s our main goal.
“Batting with Dom in the middle is fantastic. He’s a senior player with a lot of experience, and he helps keep me calm at the crease. A lot of credit must go to him as well.
“The team is gelling well now – I think we’re starting to understand each other’s games better. We’re definitely looking forward to the last couple of matches. I’ve got a really good feeling about where we are at the moment. We’re playing some great cricket.”

Hendricks himself has scored back-to-back 50s against Boland and the Lions, and this has moved him up to 12th on the batting list with 174 runs.
The spinner, Kyle Simmonds, of Western Province, is the leading bowler in the competition with 13 wickets in five games. The left-arm seamer Tiaan van Vuuren, occupies the fourth place with nine wickets at an average of 14.77 and a strike-rate of 21.00.
The Knights will take on the Dolphins at Kingsmead in Durban on Wednesday, with the match scheduled to start at 13:00.
