Last week, fast bowler Gideon Peters and batter Meeka-eel Prince were included in the squad for the season. With left-arm seamer Marco Jansen set to join the squad later in the week, the Dragons will have three players in the national team.

 Jansen did travel to Pakistan as he was still involved in the SA20, which concluded with the final on Saturday, in which he played.

Peters and Prince didn’t make their debuts on Monday in South Africa’s first game of the Tri-Series against New Zealand in Lahore.

Peters bowled with express pace for the Pretoria Capitals in the SA20, while Prince delivered consistent performances with the bat for the Dragons over the past two seasons.

Dragons coach Craig Alexander told OFM Sport that the inclusion of Peters and Prince bodes well for the squad. “We're happy for the guys who got selected for the Proteas squad,” said Alexander.

“Not only Gideon Peters, but we’ve also got Meeka-eel Prince. Then, obviously, there have been a few guys over the past year or two as well.

“At North West, we pride ourselves on playing good cricket and producing Proteas. What a lovely opportunity to have two new Dragons players added to the national squad. So yes, we are very happy for them, and I hope they perform well in Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, on Saturday, the Dragons will host the Knights at the JB Marks Oval in round one of the CSA One-Day Cup.
