Knights target first home win of season─── MORGAN PIEK 10:05 Wed, 06 Nov 2024
The Knights will seek continuity when they face the North West Dragons on Thursday in the second round of the CSA 4-Day series.
The Knights have their tails up following a solid win against Boland in Paarl last week, while the Dragons played to a draw against the Warriors at St George’s Park.
The Knight have received a boost with the return of their captain and Proteas spinner, Dane Piedt, who was in Bangladesh.
The Knights’s assistant coach, Lotli Sesele, told OFM Sport that they will limit the changes to their squad, while it is also great to have their captain Piedt back following national duty during their series win on the subcontinent.
“Yeah, there will be a bit of selection headaches, but we’re going definitely try to make small changes, subtle changes,” said Sesele.
“Obviously, we have our captain come back in Pietie, and maybe here and there maybe one or two conditional changes. But I think the squad is really doing well and everyone is ready to put their best foot forward. We know it’s a big competition for us. There will be one or two changes, but nothing major.
“I think it’s more on the conditions that we’ll face in Bloem.”
‘As always we’re looking forward to also doing well at home’
Sesele added that the Knights will target a first home win of the season after being unable to clinch a single victory in Bloemfontein during the CSA T20 Challenge. The first of these defeats was against the very same Dragons in round one of the T20 competition.
“But all is good from our side – as always we’re looking forward to also doing well at home. We’ve let ourselves down a bit at home, so I think we really want to have a good game at home.”
Play at the Mangaung Oval is scheduled to get underway on Thursday morning at 10:00.
