“I just want to win the World Cup - that’s literally my dream.”

The Proteas fast bowler, Kagiso Rabada, still dreams of winning a senior Cricket World Cup for South Africa.

The 29-year-old has one an ICC U19 Cricket World Cup along with Aiden Markram in Dubai back in 2014, and this remains South Africa’s only World Cup title to date.

The Proteas came close earlier in the year when they reached the final of the Men’s T20 World Cup in Barbados but lost by a mere seven runs to India.

At 29 years old Rabada has achieved a lot more than most cricket, however, a senior World Cup title escapes him and the nation.

Rabada, who became the sixth South African to take 300 Test wickets, said a World Cup title is still the dream, but it’s also important to continue evolving as a player to be the best version of himself he can be.

“I just want to win the World Cup - that’s literally my dream,” said Rabada. “So hopefully, I don’t have any other metrics really. The only metrics that I’m focusing on are just the processes and finding ways to enhance the process.

“The metrics will take care of themselves, literally just learning about yourself and trying to find ways to upskill yourself, trying to find ways to work smarter, learning more about the game, learning more about yourself, tweaking the process, and dealing with highs and lows, mental health.

“Those are the kind of metrics that I’m focused on.”

Rabada will not be playing in the T20 International series against India which starts on Friday in Durban.
