Brevis still in Proteas’ plans─── MORGAN PIEK 08:25 Tue, 05 Nov 2024
The Proteas’ white-ball coach, Rob Walter, has indicated that the big-hitting batter Dewald Brevis is still a part of their future plans.
Brevis, who was on tour to Bangladesh with the South African Test squad, was omitted for the upcoming T20 International series against India.
The 21-year-old Titans player has played in just two T20 Internationals for South Africa, in which he has scored just five runs in total.

At this stage, South Africa has a wealth of exciting young players at their disposal, while some of the veterans such as David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen will be making a welcome return against India.
Walter said at this stage, Brevis must just continue to remain patient.
“We’ve got a lot of good youngsters who are capable of really good stuff in the short format,” said Walter.
‘We’re certainly trying our best to get that balance right’
“We always have an eye on him and he’s always part of the conversation. We can’t give opportunities to everyone, so we’re certainly trying our best to get that balance right.
“But yeah, I mean, more can be said really, he’s always part of the conversation, he’s always in the planning, and you know, he will get his opportunity again.
“I’ve got no doubt about that.”
The first T20 International between South Africa and India will be played on Friday at Kingsmead in Durban.
