The Knights will continue to back themselves when they face the Titans on Saturday in round five of the CSA T20 Challenge.

The game is a must-win for the Knights if they want to make the knockout rounds, while they are also continuing to build as a squad after promotion back up to Division 1. The Titans won’t be an easy side to roll over as they boast players such as the destructive batters Heinrich Klaasen and Dewald Brevis while other Proteas in their camp include Andile Phehlukwayo and Lungi Ngidi.

On Wednesday, the Knights stumbled with a 47-run defeat to the Lions in Bloemfontein, but this was down to poor execution with the bat.

Thus far in the competition, the Knights have played good cricket and with a bit of luck, they could easily have secured three wins instead of just one before the clash against the Lions. Even against the defending champions at the Mangaung Oval, luck wasn’t entirely on their side, however, that is the beast called T20 cricket.

The in-form Knights allrounder, Dian Forrester, who has been good with bat and ball thus far, told OFM Sport that positive cricket is on the cards against the second-place side from the capital city.

“It was obviously a very disappointing game for us as a team, but it’s just the nature of T20 cricket sometimes,” said the player who took a hat-trick against Boland. “As a team, we’ve always said we want to play a positive brand and be brave in white-ball cricket and I think that’s exactly what we did.

“The Lions took three very good catches, which essentially changed the game if you look back on it. We’ll still go to the Titans and be brave, take the positive option, and not back down.

“The Lions, yes, they beat us, but it’s not like they got us out with very good balls. We got ourselves out. We’re going to play the same way. We’re going to be brave, take the positive option, and just believe in ourselves and believe we can get over the line with the Titans because our bowlers did so well in the previous game. They bowled exceptionally well and they stuck to their plans. Even the last three games so far, four games.

“So now we’re going to go to SuperSport Park and just hopefully the batting and everything can come together and we can get over the line and get some momentum for the remaining few games.”

Saturday’s game at SuperSport Park is scheduled to start at 14:00.
