“This T20I series against Pakistan is a critical part of our preparations for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. It offers the team the invaluable opportunity to gain match practice, allowing us to refine our strategies.”

Cricket South Africa has confirmed the Proteas will be playing a three-match series ahead of the 2024 ICC Women's T20 World Cup in the UAE.

The Proteas will play against Pakistan in an away series to fine-tune for the World Cup, which has been moved from Bangladesh to Dubai and Sharjah. Following the series in Pakistan, the Proteas will jet off to the United Arab Emirates where they will continue their preparations for the T20 World Cup over the next two weeks.

All three of the matches between Pakistan and South Africa will be played in Multan.

‘Will be vital for their T20 World Cup preparations’

The Director of Cricket, Enoch Nkwe, said they are delighted that the Pakistan Cricket Board has agreed to the series and it will be vital for their T20 World Cup preparations.

“We’re incredibly grateful to the PCB for their collaboration and efforts in arranging this series. This series not only helps us prepare for the World Cup but also strengthens the relationship between our two cricket boards as the Proteas Women visit Pakistan for the second time in a year.

“It’s a testament to the shared commitment we have toward growing the women’s game. Moreover, by playing more international matches, we’re providing our players with the platform to showcase their talent and inspire the next generation of cricketers.

“We look forward to a competitive series that will benefit both teams and further elevate women’s cricket on the world stage.”

The first T20 International will be contested on 16 September.
