“The International Cricket Council has made changes to the fixtures for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.”

The International Cricket Council has made changes to the fixtures for the upcoming Women’s T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.

This is due to the tournament being moved from Bangladesh to the UAE a little over a month before the tournament is scheduled to start.

Dubai and Sharjah will host the ninth edition of the tournament which promises to inspire and connect with a new generation of fans across the globe. The decision to move the tournament from Bangladesh to the UAE was taken by the ICC Board in the recent meeting held on August 20.

‘The Proteas will face the West Indies in Dubai’

South Africa was set to face England in the opening game, however, this is no longer the case. The opening match will now be played between Bangladesh and Scotland on 3 October in Sharjah.

On the same day, Pakistan will face Sri Lanka. The Proteas will face the West Indies a day later in Dubai in their campaign openers.

This match will be followed by the game between India and New Zealand at the same venue. Ten warm-up matches for the T20 World Cup will start on 28 September and be played until 1 October in Dubai.

The Women’s T20 World Cup champions will be crowned at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on 20 October.
