Charlton won the accolade last year after leading Northern Cape Cricket to their first silverware in more than 20 years after winning the Division 2 four-day series title.

Kemm as well as Rivaldo Moonsamy were nominated for the CSA Division 2 four-day Player of the Year accolade after guiding the Heat to back-to-back titles.

Kemm told OFM Sport that as a coach Charlton is second to none.

“Of course, Mark Charlton is a fantastic player manager and a great coach, said Kemm.

“The proof is his cabinet with the trophies that he has won.

“The last two years we've gone back-to-back in the four-day competition and that just proves that he is an excellent coach.

“We are lucky to announce to he has just signed on for another two years which is excellent for Northern Cape Cricket.”

Speaking on his individual nomination and that of Moonsamy, Kemm said it’s always nice receiving some recognition, and Moonsamy was a huge factor in the team defending their four-day title.

“Being nominated is always a privilege and an honour,” said Kemm.

“It's nice reflecting back on the last season and getting recognized for having a good season.

“Rivaldo Moonsamy has been superb in the way that he has gone about his business scoring his runs at good rate and setting us up to bring the four-day title home.”

Meanwhile, Grant Thomson, has also been nominated for the same accolade, while Basheer Walters, who will join the Heat for the new season is in contention for the Division 2 One-Day Cup Player of the Season accolade.

The annual CSA Awards will take place on 7 July in Midrand.
