The Northern Cape Heat captain, Aubrey Swanepoel, will be leaving Kimberley in order to continue his career at the ITEC Knights.

Swanepoel led the Heat with distinction this past season and saw Northern Cape Cricket winning their first silverware in over 20 years by claiming the Division 2 4-Day title.

Swanepoel told OFM Sport that he looks forward to playing alongside players such as his brother, Patrick Kruger.

“I will be signing up with the Knights for the next season and looking forward to making the move to Bloemfontein.

“Patrick and I are looking forward to playing together and with some of the other guys as well. I've previously worked with the head coach, JP Triegaardt. He is actually a very good coach and I think that he is a guy that will be moving in the right direction for the union.

“Pite van Biljon done well for the Knights and Rilee Rossouw as well. I'm just looking forward to playing with some of the guys that I know again.

“I'm just over the moon to get an opportunity to play for a division 1 team.

“If it wasn't for the Heat I wouldn't have been recognised at this level. I'm grateful to Northern Cape Cricket to have given me the opportunity to play.”

Meanwhile, the former Protea, Farhaan Behardien, will be leaving the Knights to join the Paarl Rocks.
