Suspects on the run after cash heist in North West─── KEKELETSO MOSEBETSI 09:37 Wed, 09 Apr 2025

North West police are searching for suspects involved in a cash-in-transit heist that left one security guard injured.
The cash van, carrying two security guards, was travelling on the N4 near Majakaneng, southwest of Brits, early Monday evening (7/4) when several vehicles blocked it.
A group of heavily armed suspects emerged and began firing shots at the van, causing the vehicle to come to a halt, said North West police spokesperson Col. Adéle Myburg. The suspects overpowered the crew and stole their firearms.
During the exchange of gunfire, a guard was struck by a bullet in the abdomen. He was quickly transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, where his condition remains under observation.
The suspects, believed to be well-prepared, used explosives to blow open the cash van before making off with an undisclosed amount of money in a convoy of three vehicles: a Mercedes-Benz, a Toyota Fortuner, and a Toyota Hilux.
No arrests have been made, and police are continuing their investigation. Authorities have called on the public to come forward with any information that could lead to the identification and arrest of those responsible.
