Free State police have arrested six suspects after an audacious robbery in the Bloemfontein city centre in broad daylight, but others are believed to still be on the run.

Officials have urged victims of the incident in the CBD to come forward after a video was circulated on social media showing a group of individuals robbing motorists in a busy street.

After learning about the incident, police officials acted swiftly and arrested three suspects, said provincial spokesperson Mahlomola Kareli. This was followed by another three on Thursday afternoon (27/3).

“Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the remaining suspects. Crucially, as the police, we confirmed that no formal case has been opened regarding this incident. Therefore, we are urgently appealing to the victims who were attacked to come forward and report the crime,” Kareli said.

The public is encouraged to report any relevant details about the incident. Victims or anyone with information may contact Park Road Police Station on 082 453 0760, call Crime Stop on 08600 10111, or submit an anonymous tip-off via the MySAPS app.

Kareli also reassured the public that the police are committed to bringing all perpetrators involved in this crime to justice.
