Missing Boshof teens allegedly spotted in Bloemfontein─── ZENANDE MPAME 11:46 Wed, 27 Nov 2024
Boshof police are still looking for two teens, three weeks after their disappearance.
The girls were spotted in Bloemfontein, some 120km away, on Sunday (24/11).
A missing persons case was opened for Queen Buys (18) and Tshegofatso Maritshe (17). Buys’ aunt Alicia Bezent alleged on Tuesday (26/11) that the two were a couple.
Buys contacted her girlfriend’s aunt instead of Bezent, saying that they were kidnapped and that she had escaped. Nothing has been heard from the girls since.
“Boshof police are looking for teenagers last seen in Boshof on Saturday, 9 November, on their way to a tavern,” said Free State police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng.
“We received information from witnesses that the two girls were spotted at a liquor outlet in Bloemfontein on Sunday (24/11), and that was the last time they were seen.”
Anyone with information may contact WO Billy van Wyk from Boshof Detective Services on 072 191 0844 or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.

Police have appealed to the public to be vigilant and alert to ensure their safety as we approach the festive season. “Parents and guardians are urged to know the whereabouts of their children at all times,” said Northern Cape police spokesperson Molefi Shemane.
Community members can follow the following steps when reporting a missing person at the police station:
• Provide police with a recent photo of the missing person.
• Provide a detailed description of the missing persons last seen, and what they were wearing.
• Report a missing person at the nearest police station immediately.
• Complete a SAPS 55(a) form that safeguards police from false reports.
• When the missing person is found or returns, inform the investigating officer immediately.
Meanwhile, police in Hartswater have requested community members to assist in identifying the body of a woman who was retrieved from a canal.
The body was discovered on Tuesday, 19 November, and an inquest case has been opened and is under investigation.
“The woman was believed to be between 35 and 45 years old, with a well-built physique and a light complexion, we request the community’s assistance in identifying her,” said Shemane.
