“This is due to Eskom’s electricity supply line maintenance.”

The Mangaung Metro Municipality announced a water interruption due to the Eskom electricity supply line maintenance on Saturday (1/6).

The interruption is due to the planned maintenance on the 88kv line, and water interruptions will be on Welbedachtdam, Novo SS, and Knelpoort SS.

It is scheduled from 06:00-18:00 on Saturday in the following areas:

Langenhoven Park, Wilgehof, Pellissier, Universitas, Lourier Park, and adjacent areas, Mafora, Dewetsdorp, Wepener, Phelindaba, Rocklands, Spitskop, Phahameng Phase 4,5,6,7, and 9, Ipopeng, Turflaagte, Peter Swart, Bergman Square, and Groenvlei.

“Electricity supply may be restored at any time without warning during the interruption period, therefore all electrical installations must be treated as live and dangerous,” said Mangaung Metro spokesperson, Qondile Khedama.

“Water supply will be restored as soon as electricity supply maintenance is completed. The metro would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused,” said Khedama.

Meanwhile, Centlec is experiencing an extended power failure at Navalsig, Arboretum, Waverley, and Noordhoek.

“A team has been dispatched to the site and is currently busy with troubleshooting and power will be restored eventually,” said Centlec spokesperson, Lele Mamatu.

“Centlec apologises for any inconvenience caused by this outage.” Restoration time is not known at this point.

OFM News recently reported that Centlec introduced its Token Identifier Rollover initiative, the Token Identifier (TID) is a unique code that identifies each prepaid electricity token generated. It ensures secure and accurate transactions between customers and the electricity meter.

The TID Rollover is the process of resetting the TID memory in the meter and changing the meter key to prevent old tokens from being reused. This is essential for maintaining the security and reliability of prepaid electricity systems.

To facilitate a smooth transition, customers are advised to follow these steps:

•Enter all old tokens into the meter before the firmware update.

•Upon activation by our ITC department, use the three tokens provided with your first purchase to initiate the update.

•Ensure tokens purchased before the update are loaded onto the meter before the update is complete.
