A 36-hour emergency water shutdown has been scheduled for the Mangaung Metro Municipality

A 36-hour emergency water shutdown has been scheduled for the Mangaung Metro Municipality on 30 April.

The metro will be making repairs to vandalised pipeline components on the Longridge take-off, said spokesperson Qondile Khedama. The Longridge take-off plays an important role in the balancing of water between the Vaal Central and Mangaung reservoirs and thus require urgent attention.

Areas that will be affected:

  • Mafora
  • Phelindaba
  • Rocklands
  • Phahameng
  • Pellissier
  • Wilgehof
  • Ipopeng
  • Phases 4, 5, 6, 7 and 9
  • Turflaagte
  • Peter Swart
  • Bergman Square
  • Universitas
  • Lourier Park and adjacent areas

No information on Jojo tanks being deployed has been issued. Residents are advised to stock up on water bottles for their toilets, drinking, and bathing.

Regular updates will be given to residents on the progress of water restoration. The metro has apologised for the inconvenience caused.
