Four killed in head-on collision on N1 near Winburg─── 10:40 Sat, 23 Dec 2023
“Police are investigating case of culpable homicide.”
Four people have died following a head-on collision on the N1 road 20 km from Winburg towards Verkeerdevlei in the Free State.
The incident took place on Friday (22/12) at about 11:25, said Free State police spokesperson Stephen Thakeng. Four occupants of a Nissan died while one passenger was taken to the Winburg hospital. The driver lost control and landed in front of other vehicle.
Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide. Thakeng said the station commander of Winburg was on the scene to regulate the traffic and conduct investigations on the scene.
Motorists have been warned to rest and not drink and drive to reach their destinations safely.
