“Gender-based violence and Femicide continue to pose serious threats to the safety and well-being of women and children in our society.”

The Free State Premier's office invites all community members, civil society organizations, students, religious leaders, and government officials to join the walk which will take place on Wednesday (20/12) from the Macufe Arts and Crafts to Hoffman Square at 08:00.

The dress code for the walk is all black with a touch of red, the purpose of the walk is to increase public awareness of the harmful effects that GBVF has on communities, especially concerning women's and children's protection.

Leading the walk will be Premier Mxolisi Dukwana, who will discuss the pressing need for more community involvement, action, and awareness in the fight against GBVF. This comes in the aftermath of the horrific murders and kidnappings of young women in the province recently.

“The Free State, like many other provinces, has experienced its share of heart-wrenching incidents that have highlighted the urgent need for focused efforts to address this crisis,” said Dukwana.

“This impactful and empowering walk will serve as a platform to amplify the voices of survivors, advocate for justice, and call for an end to gender-based violence in all its forms.”
