Irate residents closed down the N8 national road linking Bloemfontein, Botshabelo and Thaba Nchu on Friday (17/11).

Residents of Botshabelo barricaded roads with burning tyres and rocks. A community leader, Potso Motoko, said their main gripe is councillors who have been removing residents and illegally selling sites.

He said they were planning to intensify the strike on Friday evening, while making sure that no voter registration took place in Botshabelo on Saturday.
Residents called on Free State Premier Mxolisi Dukwama and Mangaung Metro Mayor Gregory Nthatisi to come and address the situation.
