"Honestly, there was no money at all, but I intended to increase my skills. I spent three years working for them just to have something that will never be taken from me."

The sky is the limit for the talented Mpho Nthebe, who mastered upholstery and working behind the microphone.

The 32-year-old father of one told OFM News that he never went to school for upholstery, instead, he worked for foreigners to gain skills. "Honestly, there was no money at all, but I intended to increase my skills. I spent three years working for them just to have something that will never be taken from me," said Mpho.

The Captain of the Airwaves, as he's affectionately known by his followers, said in 2019 – during the Covid-19 pandemic – he started adding up some material to start a small business of upholstery where he was accountable for covering sofas and performing some plumbing jobs. However, things didn't add up as the businesses started to suffer due to the pandemic. He also struggled to perform well.

Nthebe also shares his skills with other unemployed young people around his neighbourhood as he believes sharing is caring.

He's presently working on his business and asking business people to help him with some needed material to grow his small business.

On the other hand, Nthebe is known for his voice behind the microphone, as he's a radio DJ.

He said he realised his talent when he was still young and followed it. He aims to become a well-known radio presenter in and around his village at Thabong, Qwaqwa.

Nthebe added that he's available for any radio DJ opportunity at any radio station that will trust him to grow their numbers in the entertainment department. "This is because I am currently volunteering to run some shows and I believe I am doing my best to keep listeners delighted with my programme's content.”
