“The mayor failed to show decisive leadership and steer the municipality in the right direction instead the municipality remained stagnant and regressed.”
The DA mayor and speaker of the Fezile Dabi District Municipality, which includes the Sasolburg-based Metsimaholo Municipality, has survived a planned motion of no confidence, for the time being.
The council, which has 31 members, failed to convene and debate the motion against Mayor Dennis Khasudi and Speaker Sidney Pittaway of the DA minority-led municipality.

It failed to form a quorum after ANC members didn’t show up for the much-anticipated sitting on Thursday (21/9). The EFF submitted a motion of no confidence and accused them of infringing legislation and also non-compliance to certain regulations governing the municipality and council.

OFM News previously reported the DA mayor of Metsimaholo, which falls within the district, also faced a motion of no confidence. It was not yet clear when the council will sit for the motion. But it's understood a date could be released in the coming week.
Mayor Jeff Zwane is in hot water with the opposition following a damning report from Molefi Ntleru Inc Attorneys. It found that he interfered with matters of administration as political head or principal in that municipality.
‘A certain service provider inflated prices immediately after being illegally appointed’
Two senior accounting officers including the municipal manager and chief financial officer were also implicated. The Ntleru report found they were involved in matters of corruption related to an R2.4 million security tender.
In this leaked report it’s alleged a certain service provider inflated prices immediately after being illegally appointed to render services to the municipality.
Disciplinary action may be taken against them and they will be reported to the police for their alleged involvement in this irregular security tender.
