A scrapyard dealer from Thaba Nchu will appear before the Selosesha Magistrate's Court on Tuesday (22/8).
Paul Alexander Chauke (24) is an unlicensed and illicit copper trader. He is facing charges of tampering with essential infrastructure. Centlec last month stated its concern over the rise of theft, vandalism of infrastructure and Thaba Nchu was named as one of the places which were subjected to theft.

Chauke was arrested at the beginning of July during an intense operation led by several law enforcement authorities. He was arrested at his house in Zone 4, Thaba Nchu, where copper estimated to be worth R55,000 was discovered.

Centlec confirmed that part of the cable material found in Chauke's scrapyard belonged to them.
