The community of the Siyancuma Local Municipality celebrated the new playroom for sick children at the Hester Malan Hospital in Douglas.

This initiative was made possible by financing from the Boikanyo Solar Plant for children undergoing treatment at the hospital.

The aim is to give children between the ages of 0 and 6 years old a nurturing, secure, and interesting environment.

The support provided by the playroom includes educational learning materials, age-appropriate toys, plastic tables and chairs, storage units, bookshelves, and curtains.

While therapeutic play activities are specially made to assist young patients to cope and accomplish healthcare goals, the playroom will offer a variety of activities and resources to help children engage positively and develop essential skills during their hospital stay.

Boikanyo Solar Plant recently also donated medical equipment to a clinic in Breipaal, Douglas.

To address the requirements of primary healthcare services in the area, Boikanyo Solar Plant collaborated with the Northern Cape Department of Health to donate medical equipment to community healthcare facilities in the Siyancuma Municipal area.

Boikanyo Solar’s community liaison officer, Stephaline Fanie, said they are thrilled to support the hospital playroom initiative because they believe children possess a natural sense of wonder and a carefree attitude that should be nurtured.

Children getting medical treatment in the hospital will be nurtured and supported by the playroom's joyful learning environment.
