The late Johanna Mazibuko from Jouberton in North West, who died last week at the age of 128, will be laid to rest on Saturday.
Mazibuko is believed to be one of the oldest persons in the world.
She was born on a maize farm in the Ottosdal area.
The mayor of the City of Matsosana Local Municipality, James Tsolela, sent his condolences to the friends and family of Mazibuku and encouraged them to unite during the mourning period.

"As the City of Matlosana, ever since we knew Mme Mazibuko, we have been working very close. We have been trying to assist her with a number of things that she needed at her age. We have even hosted a number of parties for her so that at least she feels part of society. We learned this sad news and we are very saddened as a city. We lower our flag in honour of Mme Mazibuko," he said.
During her 128th birthday celebrations last year, Mazibuko revealed to News24 that she was married to Stawana Mazibuko after his wife passed away.

"I was married to an older man. His first wife had died. He was an independent man. He had a horse carriage and cows. I would milk the cows to sell [milk products]. That man treated me very well and made me forget about my life before him. I did not want for anything," she said.
The couple had seven children - only two are still alive. Her 75-year-old sister Elisa Baaitsane Wesinyana said that when she was born, Mazibuko was already married.
